This is an early photo of King of Prussia's Post Office which what was later to become the King of Prussia Antique Shop and General Store. The building was located at the intersection of Route 202 and Gulph Road (363) where a Mobil Station now stands. The sign reads "Allen C. Pugh".

The caption reads:
"Mr. Allen C. Pugh appointed King of Prussia Postmaster April 3, 1878 by Postmaster General David M. Key. The photo was taken on April 17, 1878 on the first day he took up residence."

Another view of the Post Office (left). Notice the building in the background to the right of the large tree. It is the barn shown in the photo on the right (circa 1930-40) which housed the antiques.

Now a private residence located at 991 Gulph Road, this 1784 structure was originally the Bird-In-Hand Post Office and Country Store. The store was kept by the Roberts family who in 1696 gave the land for the Gulph School and the Roberts School in 1740.
